Diamonds

We can find a lot of kinds of diamonds in the world. There are many locations in world that people can get diamond from it, but it's not easy to get it. In this essay, I’m going to write about diamond history, such as the important locations.
Now, I will highlight the diamonds history. First of all, one notable concern is with regard to its discovery. To instance, many companies started their mines in their own countries. An additional factor to take into consideration is with respect to the control of diamonds. To clarify, De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd controls 2 out of 3 world's rough diamond trade and in the early 20th century it turned into global giant so it keeps the diamond price the same. Final, another company which is in Antwerp in Belgium associated by Jewish society has almost 80% of the world's rough diamonds go through this city.
A several point to consider is to regard the route of the diamonds. Firstly, the cheapest diamonds could be found in India, because 90% of the world's rough diamonds are cut and polished there. The main problem that they don’t get them from their country, they import them from other countries like Belgium, South Africa and another countries. Furthermore, another Company has become popular for their diamond is located in UAE gave many new ideas and deals to get better their diamond trade.
To sum up, diamonds have been an internationally standard symbol of love, romance and marriage. However, diamonds come from areas where war so many companies were made just to get these rough diamonds and turn them to beautiful. Trading diamonds became popular than before, because nowadays many people buy diamonds to show their personality through them.

English 174- Blog Project (Lebanon0

Lebanon is one of the oldest countries in the Middle East. The country which named by Bible the country of milk and honey. It is formed by five nations Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Turkey and Cyprus. Lebanon is history had a lot of wars starting with civil war and ending with Israel war in 2006.Even with this unlucky history Beirut is still a good example of what we call Paris of the east.

Lebanon has long history, there is a famous name of Lebanon is written in the Bible and the name is the land of milk and honey. Referring to the Bible the first miracle was in the Lebanon which Jesus change the water to the wine. The capital on Lebanon is Beirut. It’s named Paris of the East because it has a good tourism. The famous singer from Lebanon is shakira which is half Lebanese. The countries adjacent to Lebanon are Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. Lebanon is the countries which almost have equal number from the Muslims 100,000 Palestinians were kicked out from the new state on Israel and poured into Lebanon. Horrible happened in Lebanon it was in 1975 when members of a radical Christian group, the Phalange attacked and killed a bus which contains a lot of Palestinians in downtown Beirut. (Task 7) Problem and solution of the global warming

There are a lot of issues that concerns people all over the world, but they agreed that global warming has become one of the main problems in our societies. But are there any solutions? In this essay, I will examine the causes of global warming and the possible solutions. Also, I will show my point of view about this problem.

First of all, we have to look at some causes which are leading to increase global warming rates. The main cause of global warming is green house gases which are kept in our atmosphere and makes a layer that sends back the warm energy and don’t let it pass to the outer space. As a result, The EIA estimated in 2007 that the emission of CO2 from fossil fuels combustion will reach 27 billion tons by the year 2010(Nagel, 2009). Another cause of global warming is the bad habits or individual activities which means human activity. To instance, people are practicing traditional building and using traditional materials that can’t be recycled. Last point is that Governments don’t put environmental protocols which are making a big threat to our earth. For example, they know that they are damaging the environment but they are forced by their industrial quarter heads to increase their economies and obviously make more money.

Having looked at some causes, let’s now talk about some solution of this issue. First of all, renewable energy resources like solar energy, wind and other earth resources. To clarify, by using these renewable energies together, they will provide any country with five times more electricity than they need (UCSUSA, 2009). Secondly, vehicles in general like cars and trucks are contributing to emissions of CO2. For instance, it depends on the miles travelled and the amount of fuels used, to decrease the fuel used by increasing the efficiency of the engines or use hybrid cars that don’t use fossil fuels. Yet another major solution is by changing people’s style of life. To illustrate, they can reduce the electricity by concentrating on their basic needs and people should reduce their waste and use goods that can be recycled.

In conclusion, global warming is a serious problem that threatens humankind and other creatures. Now scientists are still trying to find more solutions for it. However, in my opinion, in the future, all peoples and governments have to work together to apply the solutions because the problem is not belong to scientists only.

Blog Project Task 6 (Cool Cities)

With the technology improving, the population of people and the demand of energy increases, leading to a direct increase in carbon dioxide emission which helps in speeding the process of global warming. Japan was one of the active countries toward this issue, because it had a low emission rate among other countries and because it increased its energy efficiency to 37% while decreasing its oil consumption to 8% (Cool City).
The film says carbon dioxide emissions are coming from buildings and transportation which form around 90%. It is expected that the buildings will reduce 50% of the carbon dioxide in the air and the residential buildings will reduce 30% (Cool City). So as a result a new project was brought which is the building of Cool city. Cool city is a city which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60% gathered from Japanese Company which is the SDCG (Sustainable Development Consortium of Japan). The video emphasize this city will operate on natural energies, such as it will present solar ships, hybrid cars, light rail transit, and monorail as transportation. It will also meet the requirements of the residents and visitors by having a business, sport, resort zones and a Jatropha forests and it will contain power plant farms (Cool City). This cities heat managing will be unique, where there are some techniques will reduce heat by water, planting trees, roof membrane and the usage of recycled cool air. As a result the buildings will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60%, where the resident building will reduce 50% and other building will reduce carbon emissions to 30%.
Bradley Hope of National Newspaper says the average temperature rise up to 50C and the humidity 97%. Because of that building cool city in the UAE it’s very helpful to reduce carbon emission. (Hope).

In conclusion, these cities are one of the solutions that will help solving the global warming. No one built this city because of its high cost but as you can see building these kinds of cities will help solving many problems. In my point of view, that these solutions are very useful to reduce the carbon production, however normally it’s hard to change the mentally of people from gulf and UAE as they are producing oil and other sources which are the main source of money and pollution.

Blog Projects-Carbon Footprints Carbon Footprint Task 5

There are various ways to measure our impact on the earth from an environmental standpoint. One of these ways is by way of our carbon footprint. In the following report, I will define what a carbon footprint is, show how a carbon footprint measured, and show how I rank in comparison to others, my country and the worlds as whole and finally I’ll make some suggestions as to how we can reduce our carbon footprints.
Let’s now look at how a carbon footprint defined .A carbon footprint is the measurement of the effect human activities have on the environment. To clarify, the carbon footprint is a measure of the exclusive total amount of carbon dioxide emissions that is directly and indirectly caused by an activity or is accumulated over the life stages of a product. (Carbon Footprint - definition – useful 1)
There are several websites that can measure the carbon footprint. We all have different carbon footprints because each one has different lifestyle that affects our footprint on the planet. The calculation consists of calculating the energy used by people in their life, houses, travels and the way people are moving.
Taking our attention to my ranking I measured my carbon footprint and I answer some questions about food, travel, home and stuff in different categories that were related to identify my carbon footprint. I scored the fourth one among my classmate with a total of 1.84 .My classmate Hassen Albraiki recorded a reading of 4.57 making him the first, Sultan Saud come in second place with a reading of 2.24, Salah Alaamri came third with a score of 1.7and finally Ali Abd Alhacaeem scored 1.8. UAE has poor reputation as far as energy use is concerned. To illustrate, The UAE’s carbon footprint is 4.5 the number of planets needed to sustain the earth’s population if every country had the same ecological footprint as the UAE according to the website (Time out Abu Dhabi).
There are various ways to reduce the amount of consumption of the earth’s sources or reduce the harm one person can cause use more clean ways of transportation by walking or using a bike to go for a small errands to the market instead of the car would help. Also in the house one can use energy saving features lights or Choose energy efficient appliances. For food you can at least plant a garden of your own or choose food with less packaging to reduce waste and for housing use biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products. For example, Everyone in the world are trying their best to reduce the carbon emissions anyway possible and the UAE too is participating in this cause so should we as UAE citizens (Reduce Your Footprint).
To sum up, this report helped me to primarily become more aware of my impact on the environment and take into consideration ways that I can also benefit the environment by becoming a responsible.

English 174: Summarization Task 4 An Inconvenient truth argument

Arguments and criticisms occur for any documentary, movie, or research that discusses an essential issue. Reviews have been made about the documentary An Inconvenient Truth which talks about the global warming issue. In the Inconvenient Truth movie, some reviewers eulogized the movie’s purpose, the others haven’t admired it. This essay will summarize some arguments for and against this movie.
Parts of people were in arguing with this movie.
First of all, they mentioned that Al Gore’s showing makes the film very motivating and he had an enormous background on this issue. To instance, he treated his spectators like intelligent and varied the presentation with some jokes. He was afraid to change it to a politic issue. To clarify, Gore is careful not to turn this film into a party-political broadcast for Al Gore or the US Democratic.(Helen 2). Empire reviews acknowledged that Al Gore’s charts, statistic and scientists studies prove that the global warming is not new phenomenon (Empire). To illustrate, they support their opinion by several excellent climate researchers who says that Al Gore got the facts right.

Any documentaries might have some discussions against it. The first point to consider is that the checkers think that he tried to gain some points against the Republicans. To illustrate, criticisms against An Inconvenient Truth because they said that Al Gore was joking on Bush administration and other Republicans. Another point is that Al Gore spent a lot of time to tell us that the global warming is occurring. To illustrate, they said that he also uses the period they and scientists to confirm that his theory is happening. According to Scott, the film wasn’t supply the effect to be about the global warming but it is about Al Gore and his life. (Scott 1)

To sum up, the movie discusses a basic issue despite of the arguments for and against it. I think Al Gore documentary is so important and valuable because it shows the series problem of this world which is the global warming and the human should be careful about it and they must also put some solutions to solve and reduce this problem.

An Inconveneint Truth: A summary

Al gore, the host, was the vice-president of the states in the Clinton Administration. He first took an interest in climate change in grade school and has continued to take an interest in this subject as a politician. In this documentary, he highlights the relationship between the emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the corresponding temperatures over a 650,000 year period. Let’s now take a look at some of the major results of global warming according to gore’s presentation.

Mr. Al Gore says the main causes of global warming are the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Global warming scientist interpreted that consisting co2 layers which caused by smokes and co2 gases trapped the heat in the earth and that’s help to increase the earth temperature.

According to Mr. Al Gore there are many effects of global warming. The main effect is that it could increase the average world temperature after many years. As a result of that icebergs could melt and raise the sea level so sea waves could cover the coastal cities such as India, Florida and New York. Also he suggests some solutions that will help to reduce the percentage of global warming. For example, using a solar energy and hydrostatic energy.

To sum up, Al gore says that although the situation global warming appears dire, he does speak passionately looking forward to the future with hope. His presentation concludes with parting nuggets of practical advice as to how man can play a role in curbing climate cange.

Global warming

Earth's climate has been changing constantly over its 5-billion-year history. Sometimes, the climate has warmed so that the oceans have rise and covered much of the Earth. Each of the changes may seem extreme, but they usually occurred slowly over many thousands of years. In this essay, I’m going to write about several causes and effects which have led to this situation.

Let’s now take a look at same causes of this issue. For starter, one notable concern with regard to green house gases. For example carbon dioxide released from cars and factories. Another cause is with respect to volcanoes eruption. For instance, gases releases from volcanoes could actually one of the causes. .

Having looked at same causes, let’s now turn our attention to some effects of the global warming. First point to take into consideration is with respect to Annual amounts of rainfall or snowfall. To clarify, the amount of the rainfall can increase or decrease due to this issue. Yet a final result is to do with melting of ice. To illustrate, the water sea level is increasing due to the melting of ice.

In summary, a warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. In my opinion Government should aware people regarding effects of this issue.
